Windhoek College of Education is one of four national colleges of education and currently offers the Basic Education Teacher Diploma on a full-time basis over three years and gives a full professional education. It combines educational studies with subject area studies and integrates college-based learning with school-based teaching experience.

Windhoek College of Education has been serving the educational needs of the country since 1978. Various Diplomas in Education for full-time and part-time candidates have been issued since the Khomasdal and Windhoek Colleges of Education merged in 1990.
